Film director Christopher Guest, television star Paul Guilfoyle, and soul legends Average White Band are headlining the Berklee College of Music's annual Encore Gala this weekend, a fundraiser for the school's city music program.
The 17th annual gala, where table seating begins at $6,000, features a reception, dinner, live and silent auction, and music provided by more than 150 musicians.
Guest, a renowned film director known for his "mockumentary" films like Best in Show, is also a Berklee trustee. He will be joined at the event by the soul band Average White Band, music legend Al Kooper, and Mark O'Connor, a violin virtuoso.
Guilfoycle, who grew up in the Boston area, will emcee the event. He portrays Captain Jim Brass in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The gala raises money for Berklee City Music, a non-profit music education program for students from 4th through 12th grades.
The gala is at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Westin Copley Place.
