Arlington Public Schools are seeking volunteers this week to participate in a screening committee that will help pick the next high school principal.
Volunteers interested in working on the committee must notify the schools human resources officer, Rob Spiegel, by Jan. 3.
A previous search for a permanent principal at the high school was called off in February when Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Bodie said a search committee was unable to recommend three finalists for the job. Mary Villano has been serving as the interim principal since Charles Skidmore retired from the job in 2011.
The new principal advisory screening committee will interview candidates for the job and recommend three or four finalists, said Bodie in a letter seeking volunteers. The committee will have a minimum of four to six late afternoon or evening meetings in January that will include time to review resumes.
An orientation meeting will be held for the committee on Jan. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the School Committee room at Arlington High School.
Bodie said the school district will also hold a parent and community forum on the hiring process on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m., and once the committee recommends the finalists additional forums will be held at the high school for parents to meet the candidates.
Volunteers seeking to work on the committee can find more information on how to apply on the Arlington Public Schools website here.
