ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — Funeral services begin this weekend for a 24-year-old Danvers High School math teacher allegedly killed by a student.
Calling hours to honor Colleen Ritzer will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Augustine Church in her hometown of Andover. Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston announced the arrangements Friday on behalf of Ritzer’s family.
Her family also announced a scholarship to honor her ‘‘tireless and dedicated work.’’ It will benefit Andover High School graduates pursuing teaching careers. Donations may be made through the Essex Community Foundation in Danvers.
Ritzer’s body was found near the school after she went missing Tuesday night. Fourteen-year-old Philip Chism is charged with murder in her death. A not guilty plea has been entered for him.
