The event Saturday, Jan. 26, at the 3 Scoops Cafe on Washington Street aims to raise money for the ice cream shop, which hopes to increase its space and menu offerings.
The cooking challenge is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., according to Del Torro’s website. Tickets are $70 each.
A limited number of tickets are also available through a Kickstarter.com fundraising effort recently launched for the 3 Scoops Cafe. Pledges of $50 or more made by Jan. 23 come with one ticket to the food competition. Pledges of $250 or more come with two tickets and a meet and greet with Del Torro and Biz Markie before the event.
The competition will have a soul food theme to celebrate Black History Month.
The two competitors will have one hour to create a dish featuring a secret ingredient, the chef’s site said. They will be judged by a panel of “celebrity and food experts.”
