French-Asian bakery chain Tous Les Jours plans to open its first-ever Boston location at the former Kelly’s Roast Beef restaurant space at the busy intersection of Harvard and Commonwealth avenues in Allston, according to officials who brokered the deal.
A previously announced deal fell through that would have had BonChon Chicken open its second location in Allston Village, according to Carl Valeri, president and chief operating officer of The Hamilton Co., which owns the property.
The Tous Les Jours eatery is expected to open in the spring at the prominent, 5,000-square-foot commercial space that has sat vacant for the past 10 months following its former occupant’s abrupt closure, according to Heather Kim, owner of Douglas Paul Real Estate, which broker the latest deal.
Valeri said establishment that is lined up to take over the space is in the process of applying for the various licenses and permits required to open.
The Korean-owned Tous Les Jours chain opened its first location in South Korea 15 years ago and now runs more than 1,000 stores worldwide, including about one dozen the United States, according to its website. The only other store it operates in New England is in Burlington, Mass., a location that opened three years ago, according to town records.
In mid-December, that iconic family-run Kelly’s Roast Beef chain shuttered its Allston restaurant, which was the newest of Kelly's six locations in Massachusetts.
