The Fort Point Arts Community Inc., a non-profit dedicated to promoting local artists, was recently awarded a $100,000 grant by the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
The money, part of the community benefits agreement developed during the Channel Center development process, will be used to support a variety of the groupís activities including its open studios event, the development of public art, and the support of its public programs.
The Fort Point Arts Community Inc. could not be reached for a comment.
Founded in 1980 and run by volunteers and local artists, the organization received $80,000 in 2012 from the fund to relocate the Made in Fort Point store, which showcases local artisans and provides space for community activities, according to the BRA.
An estimated $1,200,000 is expected to eventually be distributed to Fort Point/Waterfront non-profits and social service provides as part community benefits agreement, according to the BRA.
