Norfolk County Sheriff Michael Bellotti has hired former South Boston Rep. Brian Wallace as a consultant for Bellotti’s programs for juveniles.
“The sheriff has a number of programs with at-risk youth,” said Bellotti spokesman David Weber.
The contract stipulates that no more than $9,500 be paid to Wallace.
Weber said Wallace was selected due to his background in youth programs in South Boston. Wallace ran the South Boston Boys and Girls Club in the 1990s prior to his election to the House.
After opting against seeking reelection in 2010, Wallace was indicted in 2011 by Attorney General Martha Coakley and in 2012 he was fined more than $36,000 and admitted to facts suggesting he violated state campaign finance laws in connection with failing to report campaign contributions.
Wallace represented the Fourth Suffolk District, a seat now held by Rep. Nick Collins, from 2003 to 2010.
