I’m quick to admit the fare in this region trumps my hometown’s, but as a proud Cincinnatian, there’s a long list of comfort foods I’m forever partial to: LaRosa’s pizza, Montgomery Inn ribs, coneys and 3-ways from Skyline Chili. The strongest craving, though, has always been for Graeter’s, the irresistible French Pot ice cream, made two gallons at a time and packed by hand. Sparked by the wise words of some powerful celebrities (Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, David Letterman, to name a few), Graeter’s has developed a cult-like following. Unless you ordered it from the website, though, it was unavailable locally. Until now. Fresh Market is the newest Graeter’s distributor, and the only location in Massachusetts is in Hingham. There are more than 20 flavors ($5.29 per pint), but anything with chocolate chips is recommended, especially Black Raspberry Chip, the franchise’s most popular. Sample the treat that Cincinnatians have been boasting about since 1870. Fresh Market, 11 Essington Drive, Hingham, MICHAEL WHITMER
