The basketball star moved from Jamaica to Cambridge when he was 13. There, his friends introduced him to the sport at Hoyt Field.
"The first time I tried to play, I was terrible," Ewing said. "But I liked it."
"Cambridge was a melting pot," he recalled. "There were Jamaicans, Trinidadians, Barbadians, Haitians, Greeks, Italians, Portuguese. We had a great community, a great tradition at Rindge Tech."
