Copp's Hill Burial GroundDating from 1660, Copp's Hill Burial Ground is the second-oldest cemetery in Boston. Thousands of craftspersons, artisans, and merchants are buried here; legend has it that the hill was commonly referred to as "Corpse Hill."
During the Great Molasses Flood of 1919 (when millions of gallons of molasses burst from a storage tank on Commercial Street), this was the highest (and the safest) point in the neighborhood.
