A look back at JP's Knight Children’s Center
The Home for Little Wanderers
In a move anticipated for the fall of 2012, the prominent regional nonprofit service organization for children and families will relocate some programs from its oldest and most well-known facility, the Knight Childrens Center, between South Huntington Avenue and the Jamaicaway, to a section of its 166-acre property in Walpole, Longview Farm, which is undergoing $19 million in new construction.
The 212-year-old nonprofit has held some programs at the Walpole site since 1940. But the building now known as the Knight Childrens Center (at left) has been the organizations landmark facility, and has hosted some well-known figures.
