"To Save Time is to Lengthen Life"
The pamphlet to the left was handed out to passengers on the day of the Cambridge subway's opening.
The handout touted that the subway would take someone from Harvard Square to Park Street in eight minutes-- which is less time than today's posted average of 10-11 minutes.
Each train car cost $12,000. A car with a designated smoking compartment was usually at the forward end.
