After 20 years in its Newbury Street location, the Capital Grille has moved on. At the end of August, the steakhouse relocated to the Hynes Convention Center. Why move? A little more breathing room never hurts. The new restaurant clocks in at 10,000 square feet, nearly double the size of the old, and seats more than 300. It also has a patio and five private rooms.
An even better reason is the proximity to a daily stream of hungry conventioneers. In the new space, the Capital Grille introduces lunch, an attraction for those who like to do business over dry-aged steaks.
Executive chef David Cox’s lunch menu includes the likes of sliced filet mignon with onions and mushrooms, cedar-planked salmon with tomato-fennel relish, a cheeseburger, Maine lobster salad, and a lobster and crab burger. The dinner menu offers lobster and crab cakes, wedge salads, filets and porterhouses, seafood, and more, along with a wine list of some 5,000 bottles.
The new Capital Grille is a lot like the old Capital Grille, only bigger and with more bells and whistles. The steakhouse formula works, and it will fit in well at the Hynes.
