Entrepreneur Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks owner and a panelist on the Shark Tank television show, is challenging students at the Berklee College of Music to come up with the best idea for a new television show, according to college officials.
Cuban, who owns the AXS TV channel, said in a statement that "AXS TV is incredibly excited to partner with Berklee." Shark Tank is an ABC television show in which venture capitalists invest in entrepreneurial products.
"The future of music on TV is live and I can't wait to pick the best show and social media ideas from the many I am sure students will contribute," Cuban said. "The possibilities from our partnership and this contest are limitless."
The statement said that the winner of the contest will receive $5,000. A committee from AXS TV, Mark Cuban Companies, and Berklee will narrow the submissions down to the best 10. Cuban will then choose the winner, who will be notified on May 3.
"Mark Cuban said let's find a fast way to dream up new music programming for the next generation," Berklee President Roger H. Brown said in the statement. "I said among our 4,000 talented music students lies the answer."
