Q. My Australian friend and her husband are visiting Boston this summer. She’s been to Boston before; he hasn’t. Also, he doesn’t care for museums, and they are interested in Jewish culture. Any suggestions?

Grace Lessner, Portsmouth, N.H.

A. Consider the Jewish Cultural Walking Tour of Boston (866-939-2557,, $25). The two-hour jaunt explores the North End and the “backside” of Beacon Hill, and visits several important sites, including the New England Holocaust Memorial (98 Union St.,, free), West End Gate, and historic Vilna Shul (18 Phillips St., 617-523-2324,, one of the last surviving immigrant-era synagogues in the country.

Suggest they take the Green Line to Brookline, the hub of Jewish culture in Boston.
