Budae jjigae, or army base stew, was traditionally made from surplus food from US Army bases. Today, you'll still spot chopped up hot dog, canned ham, and the random bean or piece of elbow pasta. Here, like in many restaurants in Seoul, a woman working at the Ko-Am restaurant helps prepare the dish as it cooks over a stove on the table.
