Ten great places to camp in New England
Charlestown Breachway, Rhode Island
This is a Little Rhody gem Im not too happy to give away. The long strip of sand is not yet covered with beach towels, and ocean temperatures touched by the Gulf Stream can reach a downright balmy 70 degrees. But the real reason I love Charlestown is that you can also swim and paddle at the states largest coastal pond, Ninigret, a short walk away. Other activities include surfcasting for stripers, windsurfing on the pond, and walking on the trails of Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge. The 75 camping sites are on the east side of the Breachway. $14 for state residents, $20 for nonresidents.
