You're surrounded by mural images of the village on every wall and pillar of the dining room.
Rates: The inn's 19 rooms, including four suites, are $90-$225 in season, including full breakfast. Off-season rates are $80-$165. We paid $140 per night for Room 9. The dining room serves breakfast to guests every morning, and a fixed-price dinner Wednesday-Monday in season and Wednesday-Sunday off season. Standard menu of seven courses is $55-$65; tasting menu of nine courses is $85, or $115 with seven wine pairings.
Directions: Castine is about 250 miles north of Boston. Follow Route 1 north to Interstate 95, take the I-295 coastal Maine connector north of Portland to exit 32, and the Topsham Coastal Connector to Route 1. Continue north on Route 1, turning east at Stockton Springs to follow the combined Routes 1, 3, and 15. Pass through Bucksport and follow Route 175 south, turning onto Route 166 and following signs to Castine. Castine is about 17 miles south of the turnoff from Routes 1, 3, and 15.
