Hurricane Sandy impacted all of us when she made her landfall on the East Coast last week. Since then, New York, New Jersey and surrounding areas have been working hard to rebuild their communities, and get back what they lost.

The devastation is overwhelming - an estimated nearly 8 million people without power, billions of dollars in damage, and the lives of many changed forever. We can help.

DSCN1492.jpgI've received hundreds of emails from readers asking what they can with airline miles or what hotels are offering give-back promotions. The options are endless. You can donate to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity or New York Cares. In addition, airlines and hotels have offered ways you can help Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts, simply by traveling.

Here are some easy ways for you to help out:

Some hotels are offering special discounts, free rooms and a percentage of bookings to Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts and victims:

XV Beacon: Book a Thanksgiving stay at the hotel and 10% of your room rate will be donated to AmeriCares to assist the families of Hurricane Sandy. Call the hotel for details 617-670-7777.

The Charles Hotel: Book a Thanksgiving stay at the hotel and 5% of your room rate will be donated to Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts.

Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa: The resort in Stowe, Vermont, is reaching out to East Coasters in need with complimentary resort rooms. For those looking for a place to stay or an escape from Hurricane Sandy recovery, Stoweflake is offering up to seven complimentary nights now through Nov. 20, 2012. The special offer is made available to those in the federally declared disaster areas and only applies to new reservations. For reservations call 1-800-253-2232.

White Barn Inn: The White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine, will donate $10 per person from any Holiday Workshop package booked to the American Red Cross. Rates start at $760 for two people including overnight accommodation and breakfast, $560 for a single overnight stay and a day rate of $200.

Vanderbilt Grace's Newport Restaurant Week Package: The luxury hotel in Newport will donate $20 per person from every package booked through this weekend to the American Red Cross. Rates start at $575 for two.

The Surrey: Located in New York's Upper East Side, Cornelia Spa at The Surrey invites guests to support the relief efforts of the American Red Cross with their exclusive spa package. Guests will receive $40 off any 60 or 90 minute spa treatment, a $50 gift certificate to use for a future visit and a glass of prosecco, with 5% of all proceeds going to the American Red Cross.

Other hotels:
Choice Hotels International, Inc.

Airline donations:

Readers: I'll continue to update this story as I receive more information from hotels and airlines. In the meantime, if you've heard of other places that are offering Hurricane Sandy donations just by staying or trading in points, please let us know in the comments!
