New England escapes: Holiday hotel packages

Still looking for that perfect holiday escape? Stay close to home and take part in some of these hotel packages perfect for the holiday season.

The annual Christmas Prelude takes place in Kennebunkport, ME, this year from Nov. 29-Dec. 9. Complete with a lobster trap tree lighting, Firehouse lobster bake and Santa's arrival on a lobster boat, Kennebunkport takes a twist on the traditional Christmas parade and offers residents and a guests a new way to usher in the spirited holiday.

To help commemorate the start of the holiday season, The White Barn Inn is offering a special package for both weekends during the Prelude that includes accommodations in a Superior Queen room, breakfast and afternoon tea, 4 course dinner at the White Barn Inn restaurant, cocktail reception on the Friday night of your arrival and a welcome gift from the hotel. Rates start at $690 a night.

Greater Boston

Millennium Hotel & Resorts: Choose from one of two holiday packages at this luxury hotel. Get in the holiday spirit with the Boston Holiday Stroll package, which includes two tickets for a guided holiday stroll of the historic Freedom Trail. Or, take some of the stress away from buying gifts with the Holiday Shopping package that includes special offers to the shops at Faneuil Hall. Both packages include a minimum $50 credit to North 26 Restaurant & Bar. Rates start at $179.

Turkey Time-Out Package at the Renaissance Hotel: This package promises relaxation and will allow a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Package includes an aromatherapy bath salts or relaxing face mask, two calming “In-Law Equalizer” cocktails, and a complimentary movie. Book now through Dec. 30, 2012 starting at $189 a night.

Winter Wishes at XV Beacon: Help ease the harsh bite of winter with this heartwarming and spirit lifting deal in one of Boston’s most chic boutique hotels. The package includes two tickets to the Boston Common Frog Pond ice skating rink, two hot toddies from the hotel lounge, late check-out at 2 p.m., and a food credit of $40 in Mooo. Available December 1, 2012 through March 19, 2013. Rates start at $340.

North Shore

Quarterdeck Inn by the Sea: This inviting little inn is tucked along the Rockport shoreline, steps away from boutique shops and some of the best seafood on the North Shore. Rates start at $129.

Coco Key Water Park Package: Although Massachusetts is one of the best places to embrace the snowy winter, the appeal of a tropical getaway is undeniable and with Coco Key Indoor Water Park in Danvers, it is a lot closer. The Ultimate Water Park Package includes two $20 arcade cards, breakfast buffet for four, and access to the park from 4 p.m. on the day of your arrival and all day the following day for a party of four. South Shore

Holiday Festival of Lights Package at John Carver Inn: Light up your season at the Edaville Festival of Lights and an overnight stay in nearby Plymouth. Western Massachusetts

Cape Cod and the Islands

Cape Codder Resort & Spa Enchanted Lights Package: Start the holiday season at the Enchanted Village in Hyannis, which boasts more than 100,000 lights. The package includes one night in a deluxe room, half off of a second night, and $100 in dining, lodging, and shopping certificates to Catania Hospitality Group venues. A visit to the Enchanted Village includes quality time with Santa, costumed carolers, and a winter night bonfire. The light displays last until January 2, 2013. Rates start at $129 per night.

The Nantucket Hotel Winter Getaway Package: Relax with a peaceful December weekend away in Nantucket. Enjoy the island’s boutique shops and restaurants, colorful lights, and holiday decorations. The Winter Getaway package includes a daily full breakfast for two, two tickets to the Whaling Museum or two tickets to the movies, and pick up and drop service to the ferry terminal.
