The taste of Italy comes to Maine

You dream about pizza in Rome and sunsets in Tuscany, shopping on the Via Conditti and canal rides in Venice, but you can't quite find the time (or the cash) to get there. Good news dreamers: the Black Point Inn in Maine is bringing a bit of Italy to you (and a fraction of the price it would cost you to do the real thing).

Black Point Inn is hosting its Annual Food and Wine Lovers weekend from Oct. 28 - Oct. 30, with a focus on Italian cuisine. You'll arrive on Friday and are greeted with a Bisol Prosecco and Hors d’ouevre Reception. At the reception you'll try various other Proseccos while enjoying the ocean view from the inn. After cocktails, you'll head into the Chart Room for the Chef Will Benner’s specially prepared meal complimented with Italian wines.

Saturday morning, a traditional Italian breakfast is served and you'll have free time to explore Prouts Neck in Scarborough, Maine (where the inn is located). In the afternoon, wine lovers are treated to a guided tour through Italy at the Black Point Inn, tasting 10 wines from across the country accompanied by an array of meats and cheeses. That evening, Chef Benner presents a six-course meal incorporating local ingredients perfectly paired with six distinct wines.

The cost: $639 per couple, which includes lodging, all meals, wine, and a wine seminar.

Black Point Inn is located at the tip of Prouts Neck in Scarborough, Maine. This property has 25 guestrooms and is only open spring through fall. The Food and Wine Festival is the perfect way to say "arrivederci" to the season.
