Heads up Boston travelers: if you're flying out of Terminal B give yourself at least an additional 30-45 minutes of travel time (more if during rush hour) to get into the terminal.
Massport is doing some major maintenance to the upper level roadway of Terminal B, which is usually where departing passengers are dropped off, and has closed the entire upper level. This means both arrivals and departures are using the bottom level, as well as all of their forms of transportation.
The lower level is equally a mess, however, so if you're driving pay close attention to the signs. I drove into Terminal B via cab this morning around 4am for a 6am flight, and the cars were already backed up (less so because of volume, and more so because of confusion).
What's this mean for arrivals at Terminal B? It means you're sharing your pick-up space with drop-off passengers. Buses to the subway and parking lots, cabs, limos, hotel vans and car rental vans are still driving through to pick up passengers, just a slower pace. Be prepared for a lot of people, long lines and pockets of gridlock throughout the day.
Massport says the upper level departure roadway at Terminal B will be closed August 3 - 24. Airlines at Terminal B include:
- Air Canada/Air Canada Jazz
- American Eagle
- Spirit Airlines
- US Airways
- US Airways Express
- US Airways Shuttle (LaGuardia & D.C.)
- Virgin America
