The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs (fakesteve.blogspot.com), a parodic blog that purports to be written by the founder of Apple Computer, is the work of a blogger known until a few months ago only as Fake Steve. His musings on all things techie are written in a style that is exaggerated yet wonderfully similar to that of the real Steve Fake Steve is almost unhinged in his contempt for his cus¬tomers and competitors (he roundly abuses them as jackasses, and makes fun of people who bought iPhones for $600). The blogs other draw from its inception was the mystery: Just who is Fake Steve? In late August, Brad Stone, a New York Times reporter, nailed the culprit as Daniel Lyons, a very witty senior editor at Forbes magazine who writes from his home near Boston. Fortunately, his excoriation of the technology industry remains as funny, and as insightful, as ever.
