Rising stars in coastal cooking lauded

Foodies take note: StarChefs.com, a restaurant industry trends magazine, has named its 2014 Coastal New England Rising Stars Award winners, whom the magazine says “represent the vanguard of the contemporary American dining scene.” They will be showcased April 15 at the Providence Biltmore Hotel, an event that will include a walk-around tasting to give attendees the chance to taste what many of coastal New England’s chefs have to offer, as well as beverage pairings and cocktails by winning sommeliers and bartenders.

“The New England Coast is the place to go to be close to land, sea and real food people,” said Antoinette Bruno, the magazine’s editor in chief.

More than 150 candidates were considered through in-person tastings and interviews. General admission to the event is $95 per person, with VIP tickets going for $125 that include a private reception with champagne and Petrossian caviar.
