The last weekend of April is the time to head to Western Massachusetts for the 8th annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail Open Studio and Sale. At nine studios from Northampton to Northfield, 14 professional potters welcome visitors April 28-29 to settings as diverse as the clay creations. The weekend provides the opportunity to buy orginal functional and non-functional pottery, architectural tiles, and one-of-a-kind pieces while meeting the artists where they work. For the first time, James Guggina, known for porcelain tableware, opens his Florence property where he's building a wood-fired kiln. The other host studios are Francine T. Ozereko, Tom White, Angela Fina, Stephen Earp, Mary Barringer, Molly Cantor, Donna McGee, and Lucy Fagella. Guest potters are Mara Superior, Erica Wurtz, Megan Hart, Tiffany Hilton, and Victoria Crowell. Studios are open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Visit www.apottery.com for details and map for the free, self-guided tour.
