It may be Red Sox Opening Day, when hope and happiness spring eternal, but a recent survey by Men's Health Magazine found that Boston is actually one of the country's angriest cities.
Boston managed only a D-plus, good enough for an 81st-place finish in the top 100. However, it's not all gloom for New England, as Burlington, Vt. finished with the top spot in the survey's "most serene" cities, with the only A-plus recorded.
Portland, Maine (14) and Manchester, N.H. (59) also finished in the running, with grades of B-plus and C, respectively.
The magazine came up with the grading system by calculating data such as number of aggravated assaults per capita, number of people with high blood pressure, amount of time spent in traffic, and the number of anger-management specialists per capita. St. Petersburg, Fla., Baltimore, and Detroit were the only cities to finish with failing grades. And think, Baltimore has yet to watch the Orioles this season. That's not going to help.
