It's official -- sort of. Virgin Atlantic has the most attractive flight attendants in the world, according to a survey of business travelers.
Fifty-three percent of those responding to a tally done by Business Travel and Meetings Show, a British corporate travel exhibition, put Virgin's "red hotties" at the top of their list. Singapore Airlines' cabin crew came in second, snagging 18 percent of ballots for the top spot, while 12 percent voted for Etihad's; 11 percent for Emirates, and 6 percent for Aer Lingus.
Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson has always placed stress on the appearance of his crew, featuring some of them in the carrier's promotional materials. The airline has been noted for cultivating a somewhat racy image of itself in its sometimes steamy commercials. In 2009, one commercial marking the airline's 25th anniversary drew complaints to Britain's Advertising Standards Authority. And last year, the CW network tried to cash in on that reputation by casting a handful of attractive Virgin Atlantic attendants based out of LAX for their "Fly Girls'' reality show, which was criticized as an unrealistically glamorous depiction of the lives of cabin crew members.
The decidedly informal tally was done by BTMS, which was held Tuesday and Wednesday in London.
