The Parade Field at Fort Adams in Newport, R.I. will be turned into a mini-Brimfield this Saturday, Aug. 28, for the Newport Antiques Festival. More than 100 dealers of antiques and collectibles gather in this historic outdoor venue to sell their goods. Early buyers can pay extra, a cost of $20, to be let in one hour early to inspect the various treasures at 8 a.m. The general public is allowed to enter the gates at 9 a.m. and pay just $8. Children under 12 are free. This antique festival is rain or shine, and food and drink concessions will be on site as well. All proceeds raised will support the restoration and educational programs of the Fort Adams trust.
