Each day I walk my lawn and inspect my gardens for bulbs who dare rear their early heads. For any gardener this springtime ritual is nearly intoxicating. If you move a little south into Rhode island, you can see these bulbs full bloom as early as April 10. And that's exactly the start of Daffodil Days at Blithewold. Over 50,000 daffodils and early blooming bulbs, trees, and shrubs inundate the lawns and gardens of the Blithewold Mansion. Guests can roam free to appreciate the beauty and subtle scents, and on some days, may settle in the Dining Room for an afternoon tea featuring scones and sweets. Daffodil Days runs from April 10 through May 2. Special exhibits and activities for the whole family are scheduled throughout this time, so pick a time that suits your family and aim to visit then.
