Don't count out skiing just yet, as Mad River Glen reminds us that one of its biggest festivals has yet to arrive. The weekend of March 13-14 marks the 35th North American Telemark [NATO] Festival. Organizers lay claim that this is the "mother" of telemark events, and that free-heelers flying down this mountain are taking part in the oldest and largest gathering of telemark skiers in the world. Join the festivities in the theme of the Retro Fest - the Year of the Gear, where rad prizes are awarded for best retro gear, costumes and skiing styles. The weekend is full of clinics for beginners, intermediate and expert skiers, and all the major telemark equipment manufacturers are on hand to offer demos, ask questions and provide you with the latest, biggest and best in the sport. Let's not forget the addition of live music, the Magic Hat dance party, and countless surprises to be collected along the way.
