It's as Vermont as maple syrup, yet few stop to realize the artistry and functionality behind fiber [and for once, not the kind you eat]. The Jamaica Community Council and Margie’s Muse welcome visitors to its 6th Annual Jamaica Fiber Festival taking place this Saturday, May 16 in Jamaica, Vt., where feeling earthy, and getting inspired comes with the price of admission.
Families and visitors of all ages can enjoy sheep shearing demonstrations, watch fiber artists needle felting, ogle spinners making yarn from raw wool or angora straight from the rabbit! Wet felting and needle felting demos will be taking place all day long, and a community weaving demonstration is offered at Margie's Muse, where a loom and experts are at your finger tips. Spindles, homespun and hand-dyed yarn, and knitted, crocheted, woven, felted and sewn creations will be on sale at this delightfully, fiberous fest. For details check online or call 802-874-7201.
