Push aside the acrylics and the oils, the medium this time around is flora, in all its glory. The Worcester Art Museum will host the 7th annual Flora in Winter celebration on Thursday, Feb. 5 through Sunday, Feb. 8. Artisans of all backgrounds, from all over New England, volunteer to use flora as their medium as they create arrangements that are inspired by artworks within the museum's galleries.
“Each year the arrangements are more spectacular than the previous year,” said museum Flora in Winter and Development Coordinator Nancy Jeppson. “The goal of each of the 23 arrangements is to help our visitors see something new in each of the artworks that are interpreted.”
Flora in Winter's celebration includes live music, hors d'oevres, guided tours, choir performance, a floral design challenge and interpretive demonstrations by floral artisans. The Museum Shop will sell items inspired by Flora in Winter and the Museum Café will have extended hours through the event. Look online for details or call 508.799.4406.
