The Newport Opera House is at it again, casting 6 local actors to bring A.R. Gurney's humorous and poignant examination of upper-middle class WASP life, "The Dining Room." Six actors portraying numerous characters, and eighteen scenes from different households overlapping and intertwining over time so cleverly, and all taking place in a single dining room. The play is not in front of you, but amidst you, on an thrust stage that extends 12 feet into the audience. Theater-goers will enjoy the action in a much more intimate manner and may find themselves needing to hold back from the drama themselves.
