If you're like me the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a most wanted experience, yet the thought of keeping track of young children in mass chaos quickly extinguishes those plans. An alternative the same time of year, is Stamford, Conn.'s UBS Parade Spectacular. The Parade has grown into one of the biggest helium balloon parades in the country, and packs its streets before you even think about putting the turkey in the oven. This Saturday, Nov. 23, follow Grand Marshall and baseball great, Tommy John down the streets of Stamford, ooh and ahh at your favorite characters several stories above your head, including new additions like Mighty Mouse, Mr. Potato Head and Underdog, and enjoy the decorated floats and award-winning marching bands.
Parade Spectacular starts at noon, and is free to all. Arrive early as most streets along parade route will be closed by 10:00 a.m. Seating for the disabled will be available at Veterans Park on Atlantic Street. Free parking will be available at Landmark Square. Call 203-348-5285 for more information.
