Legend has it that people from across the country descend upon tiny Dummerston, Vt., the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, just to eat some pie. No kidding. For more than 40 years, over 1,500 apple pies are made by local church members and friends to feed the masses and raise some money in the meantime at their annual Apple Pie Festival. And it's more than pie of course, there's Vermont cheddar cheese, hot and cold cider, coffee, fresh donuts, and homemade ice cream. Belly full? Then there's also a used book stall, a SERRV table where you can easily complete your holiday shopping in one stop, and Vintage Treasures for sale. Apple pies litter the lawn of Dummerston Congregational Church. For more information call 802-254-9158.
