An apple a day...

'Tis the season to celebrate the apple, and Old Sturbridge Village is honoring this quintessential New England fruit this coming weekend, Oct. 4 and 5, with many activities for the whole family. The Apple Days celebration is dedicated to the harvesting, preservation and cooking of apples.
Hands-on demonstrations of grafting apple trees, and pressing your own cider begins the weekend. A cider tasting and cheese tasting follow, and what would an apple celebration be, without an apple pie baking contest. Take a walk through the Village orchard, bring the kids to the Crafts center or take a turn at the hand-powered apple grinder. Both days are filled with apple-themed demos, crafts and tastings.
