At the Stockton Bight sand dunes near Port Stephens, a town on the Pacific Ocean north of Sydney and at the foot of the Great Dividing Range on Australia's east coast, sandboarders ride slopes up to 40 yards high, including some 60-degree inclines. A 20-mile stretch of Stockton's beach is at the foot of the dunes. Getting there requires a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Port Stephens 4WD Tours charges about $37 per adult for a three-hour trip.
