Hometown Authors Reception featuring Dropkick Murphys, Dec. 9

Mayor Thomas M. Menino will host the 2013 Hometown Authors Reception Monday night at the Hotel Commonwealth to benefit the literary charity, ReadBoston.

This annual event will feature some of Boston’s best-known authors and an acoustic performance by Boston’s own Dropkick Murphys. Attendees will meet the authors and have the chance to buy their newest books and have them signed.

Some of this year’s authors and celebrities include Jack Beatty (The Rascal King, Age of Betrayal, The Lost History of 1914); The Boston Globe’s Kevin Cullen & Shelley Murphy (Whitey Bulger), Meredith Goldstein (The Singles), and Brian McGrory (Buddy, Strangled, The Incumbent); Pulitzer Prize-winner Paul Harding (Tinkers); Claire Messud (The Emperor’s Children); and more.
