Kale at a local farmers' market

There's more to the fall harvest than apples and pumpkins. Consider peagreens, purslane, and new potatoes. On Mondays, Beacon Hill Bistro executive chef Josh Lewin stops at the Central Square Farmers' Market on his way to work and picks up whatever produce strikes his fancy, then uses it in a Market Monday Special. At Flora Restaurant, chef Bob Sargent offers Farmer's Market Monday Dinners, featuring a three-course meal made with ingredients grown by local farmers.

Market Monday Specials 5:30-11 p.m. Beacon Hill Bistro, 25 Charles St., Boston. Reservations recommended. Available until ingredients run out. 617-723-7575,

Farmer's Market Monday Dinners 5:30-9:30 p.m. $25 per person, family style dining, communal table. Through October. Flora Restaurant, 190 Mass. Ave., Arlington. 781-641-1664,
