DJ HEEMS The ICA kicks off its waterfront party series, DJs on the Harbor, with a performance by DJ Heems of Das Racist on Friday night. DJ Knife will perform the opening set. KNOCK ABOUT The main and side stages at the Naukabout Music Festival are loaded with music by the Ryan Montbleau Band, the Dune Billy All-Stars, John Brown’s Body, Adam Ezra Group, Dub Apocalypse, Will Evans from Barefoot Truth, Tall Heights, and more. SWINGING ON THE CHARLES Learn how to swing like the best of them thanks to the folks at Boston Swing Central. Jitterbug on over to the docks of Community Boating near the Hatch Shell where you can take an hour lesson followed by a night of dancing under the stars. Aug. 11, lesson at 7 p.m., dancing at 8 p.m. Tickets: $12, $10 students and seniors. Community Boating, Boston.

COMMONWEALTH SHAKESPEARE COMPANY FAMILY DAY This bard bonanza features City­Stage’s “A KidSummer Night’s Dream,” an adaptation of “The Tempest” for kids, Boston Conservatory students in “Bard Over Broadway,” and “Shakespeare on Love” featuring actors from CSC’s summer apprentice program. The Boston Circus Guild enhances the festival atmosphere with jugglers, aerialists, and acrobats. Aug. 11, noon-4 p.m. Free. Boston Common, Parkman Bandstand.

HUNGRY TIGER STREET FOOD FESTIVAL Union Square channels a night market like those found in the Far East, Mexico, or old Europe. El Potro, Pao de Açucar, India Palace, and other eateries serve up global cuisine, artisans ply their wares, musicians play, and street performers entertain with fire throwing and other feats. Aug. 11, 6-10 p.m. Free admission. Union Square Plaza, 70 Union Square, Somerville. Rain date Aug. 12.


NEW ENGLAND PIRATE FAIRE Ahoy, maties, be ye ready for swashbuckling swordplay, buried treasure, and all manner of interactive pirate fun? Then head to Pastimes Entertainment’s rollicking event. HARDWELL Despite being just 24, this Dutch DJ is racking up praise and fans as he tours the world this summer spinning electro-house and progressive beats.
