Making plans this New Year's Eve weekend? Short on ideas? No worries. See Nicole Cammorata and Milva DiDomizio's picks for the top things to do around the Hub this weekend. Now get out and go to it!

LIFTING THEIR VOICES: You may have seen a cappella quartet the GrooveBarbers in commercials for Astelin nasal spray (a gig’s a gig, right?). Three of the guys were members of Rockapella, and lead singer Sean Altman was a writer/performer for “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?’’ The quartet specializes in rock, doo-wop, jazz, and barbershop. Dec. 30, 8 p.m. $12-$23. Friends of the Performing Arts Center, 51 Walden St., Concord. 978-369-7911,

SARAH SMILING: An east coast road trip is reason to be happy for Chicago-based Americana/country blues outfit Sarah & the Tall Boys. For Northern Rhode Island natives Sarah Potenza-Crossman (bandleader) and her husband Ian Crossman (bassist), it means returning to their roots. Catch them with Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers. Dec. 30, 9 p.m. $10. Johnny D’s, 17 Holland St., Somerville. 617-776-2004,

LUST FOR LIBATIONS: Wait until New Year’s Day to listen to the angel on your right shoulder, spend New Year’s Eve indulging the one on the left. For SIN - the Antiresolution NYE Cocktail Party, chef Dante de Magistris concocts a menu based on the Seven Deadly Sins. Down cocktails, make a glutton of yourself at food stations, dance to DJ Adilson’s tunes, and raise the bubbly at midnight. Dec. 31, 8 p.m.-2 a.m. $80. 21+. Restaurant Dante, 40 Edwin H. Land Blvd., Cambridge. 617-497-4200,

RESOLUTION BALL: Get spiffed up and say “so long” to 2011 in style. The 14th Annual Resolution Ball is black tie optional and includes hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and music from DJ Samuel L and the Felix Brown Band. If you'd like to kick off the night early, there are also dinner reservations available starting at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31, 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $75, $125, or $185. 21+. The Seaport Hotel. 1 Seaport Lane, Boston. 781-444-7771,

ON TOP OF THE LIBERTY: The Liberty Hotel will host a multi-floor party of drinks and dancing, with entertainment by DJs Kevin James, Frank White, and Michael Savant. There will also be aerial performances featuring dancers wrapped up in cloth ribbons hanging from the ceiling. Dec. 31, 8 p.m. Tickets: $75. 21+. The Liberty Hotel. 215 Charles St., Boston. 866-507-5245,

GREAT GATSBY GALA: Boston Swing Central will be channeling all things F. Scott Fitzgerald for this 1920s-themed swing dance party. The event will be held at the Crosby Whistle Stop in Charlestown, a whistle mill that has been converted into a dance hall. The Baby Soda Jazz Band will perform and a one-hour swing lesson is included with admission. Dec. 31, 8 p.m. Tickets: $25 - $30. 21+. The Crosby Whistle Stop, 24 Roland St., Charlestown.

RESOLVE TO EAT: If you’re saving your plans to diet for another day (or year), and you love beef empanadas, chipotle potatoes, Mexican eggs benedict, churros, and vanilla bean flan, head to the Indulge in the New Year $20.12 All-You-Can-Eat Brunch. The slim price of admission includes a make-your-own-taco station, made-to-order guacamole, and a Bloody Maria. Jan. 1, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. $20.12, reservations suggested. DON'T STOP BELIEVING: Two decades is a long time to nurse a hangover, but if you still haven’t recovered from 1980’s pop music, the 80s Hangover with Love Canon & Ronald Reagan is for you. The latter bill themselves as “Boston’s Premier ‘80s Pop Saxophone Duo” and interpret hits by Journey, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and others. Love Canon tackles similar repertoire as a string band.
