Have big hat, will travel? You won't have to go far to take in the Kentucky Derby action around Boston this weekend (Post time is 6:24 p.m. tomorrow, May 7):

- Woodward at the Ames Hotel: Pick up a bowler or other topper at the Goorin Bros. pop-up store while you sip champagne and watch the race and festivities. 4-9 p.m. 617-979-8200. woodwardatames.com

- Game On: Dress to impress at this party and you could win tickets to see the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block or Sox tickets. Categories include best seersucker suit and best jockey outfit. 2-8 p.m. 617-351-7001. gameonboston.com

- Suffolk Downs: When you're not watching the "most exciting two minutes in sports," you can jam to Aerosmith tribute band Draw the Line and get your picture taken with the Patriots Cheerleaders at this fete. Fingers crossed for "Back in the Saddle." 2-7 p.m. 617-567-3900. suffolkdowns.com

And, if you need a sugar fix, pick up a Derby cupcake or two (bourbon cake with creme de menthe icing) at Kickass Cupcakes. Giddyap!
