It all began as an inside joke between two friends. After moving away to college in Vermont four years ago, Boston native Daniel Rosmarin found himself desperately missing the infamous burritos at Anna's Taqueria.

But what started off as a silly summer afternoon dedicated to eating at all six Anna's locations quickly became a summer tradition. This year, the burrito aficionado and his friends decided to spread the word about year number four. Although Rosmarin is not at all affiliated with Anna's, he contacted the owners and got permission to post fliers and advertise the event both in the restaurants and throughout the city. In fact, owner Mike Kamio was so accepting that he gave Rosmarin 50 free burrito vouchers for Marathon participants.

Don't let the term marathon scare you, as there's absolutely no running necessary. The event, which doesn't require any registration or sign up fees, simply encourages participants to walk in a thirteen mile loop that passes all of the Anna's locations throughout Boston, Somerville, and Brookline. Rosmarin says burrito enthusiasts should feel free to join for as much or as little of the walk as they'd like.

If you're interested in walking, even if it's just for one or two stops, be sure to RSVP on Facebook so Rosmarin can get an accurate head count, and don't forget to follow the event on Twitter. Dedicated Anna's fans are encouraged to don "intense marathon gear," which Rosmarin qualifies as high shorts, sleeveless shirts, and/or fanny packs. Sombreros are also welcome. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Coolidge Corner location.
