Blame everything on the recession. I do, and it has the charming effect of turning even the most bizarre, apparently irrelevant life decisions defensible — on the basis, of course, that they boost your spirits. Like watching mini-marathons of The Cosby Show until 3 a.m. instead of studying for mid-terms or drafting and adhering to your own personal food pyramid, with groups like "Comfort Foods: Bread Edition" and "Comfort Foods: Cheese Edition."

These are OK things to do when you're otherwise battered in every way, every day, by the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

Watching tons of cartoons is also acceptable. The Brattle Theatre's 14th Annual Bugs Bunny Film Fest will make you feel like a kid again, making it an irresistible stop on the road to recession recovery. At the very least, it should put things into perspective. You may be broke, but when's the last time an anvil fell on your head?

There are daily screenings of the Looney Tunes Revue, a combination of staff favorites and some surprises, according to the website — and it all ends tomorrow.

That's all, folks.
