A DOZEN IDEAS
Here are some wise words to live by: Never miss an opportunity to celebrate, no matter how big or small the occasion.
Today is 12/12/12, so don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the day. Here are a dozen ideas for you to observe the day, and the number 12. Next
Tour Fenway Park
Students of Boston: Take a break from studying for finals and tour Fenway Park for $12. The 60-minute tour includes the history of players, the park, and the team.
After the tour, stop by Jerry Remy’s in Fenway and order pan-seared crab cakes or quesadillas, both priced at $12.
Eat festive cupcakes
As if the holidays weren’t enough of an excuse to indulge in your sweet tooth, here is another reason: Use the date as a reason to buy a dozen cupcakes, and as an added bonus, pick flavors that are of the season. Georgetown Cupcakes, which opened earlier this year on Newbury Street, has many festive choices available, including chocolate egg nog, holiday lava fudge, and Rudolph red velvet.
Check with the store for prices and availability.
Contemplate the end of the world
In just a matter of days (12/21/12), the world may end — at least according to some interpretations of the Mayan calendar. For $12, sip away any such fears with the “Mayan redemption” cocktail at the Painted Burro, which contains rye, lemon juice, cinnamon syrup, and black walnut bitters, as decribed on their menu.
Don’t forget to check out their Mayan End of the World Bash on Dec. 21, 2012.
Cheers the Celtics
The 2011 NBA champion Dallas Mavericks will face the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on 12/12/12. No, $12 tickets are not available, but $12 pitchers of beer surely will be. Boston Sports Grille is located steps away from TD Garden and has a variety of affordable pitchers available.
’Tis the season
... to go shopping. There are only 12 days left until Christmas Eve, and only that much time to get all the holiday shopping done. Head to Newbury Street, grab some hot cocoa , and get to work.

Grab lunch on the go
Do something new for lunch: At noon, venture over to the newly opened Pret A Manger at the Back Bay or Financial District locations. For those on the run, the cafe has pre-packaged sandwiches ready to be picked up, making it an ideal stop during a busy work day.

Enjoy a hearty meal
Silvertone’s mac and cheese has made a name for itself, but on 12/12/12, skip the cheesy goodness for $12 steak tips, served with mashed potato and greens. Spaghetti Bolognese and chicken farfalle are two other $12 options from which to choose.

Make someone’s day
Don’t wait until Valentine’s Day—turn 12/12/12 into a memorable day. Profess your love or reconnect with that special someone. How? Only the most classic way: with a bouquet of a dozen roses at hand.
