Athletes of the Year
Division 1: Barnstable, Senior
Cavanaugh finished her senior year with a splash - she was the Division 1 state champion in the 200 and 100 freestyle and broke the South/Central sectional meet record in the 200 freestyle (1:53.72) and 100 freestyle (52.77) as well. She also holds the school record in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Division 2: Wayland, Senior
Wright has accrued more points than any other female swimmer in Wayland school history. The four-year DCL All-Star holds the Division 2 North sectional record in the 50 free as well as school records in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. She will attend Bucknell University.
Concord-Carlisle, Junior, Diving
Brazina won her second straight Division 1 state diving title with a lofty 507 points. In the off-season, she's the captain of the year-round diving club, Infinite Diving. She has competed in the AAU National Championships and has placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter.
Lincoln-Sudbury, Junior, 500 Freestyle
Brown had a breakout year for Lincoln-Sudbury - she broke school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and set a DCL meet record in the 100 breaststroke. She was the Division 1 state champion in the 50 free and came in second in the 100 backstroke.
Just a freshman, Chory already has an EIL MVP award and multiple EIL records under her belt, including the 100 fly and the 200 individual medley, both of which she broke at the championship meet. She also holds the school's 100 backstroke record and is a member of Bernal's Gator Swim Club.
Bedford, Junior, Diving
The Dual County League All-Star is the Division 2 state diving champion. She was also third at the MIAA North sectional meet. Dushman is an AAU National Qualifier and has been her team's leading scorer for two years. She's also a DCL All-Star in track.
Westford, Senior, Diving
Feng has the luxury of saying she has never lost a dual meet in her career. She's a four-time North Sectional diving champion and a two-time Division 1 state champion. This year, she was the runner up in the state meet with a score of 498.
Westford, Freshman, 100 Breaststroke
In only her first year at Westford, Huber set school records in the 50 free, 100 breaststroke, and as a member of the 200 medley relay. She was the 100 breaststroke champion at the North Sectionals (1:09.10) and the runner-up at the Division 1 state championships (1:08.32).
Middleborough, Senior, 100 Backstroke
McDonald won the MIAA Division 2 state championship in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.72, which also set a school record. She won the same event at the South sectionals (1:00.35). She's a member of the 200 medley relay team that set a school record as well.
King Philip, Sophomore, 500 Freestyle
Nasson is making a name for herself in the 500 free, winning the event at both the South sectionals and in the Division 1 state championships. Her 5:02.95 time at states was a personal best. She also placed second in the 200 free at both sectionals and states.
Deerfield, 50 Freestyle
Pielock was a cocaptain of the Deerfield Academy swim team and was voted the Grace Robertson Award winner as the outstanding female student–athlete at the New England Prep School Swimming Championships. She is a three-time New England Prep School champion in the 50 freestyle. She will attend Richmond.
Weston, Sophomore, 100 Butterfly
A member of the Division 2 state champion 200 medley and 400 free relays, Tocci also made a name for herself in the 100 fly which she won at the states. Tocci is the North sectional champion in the 100 free. She's also an All-American consideration for the 200 free.
It's easy to see why the Wayland 200 freestyle relay won its third straight Division 2 state championship. The team was comprised of Division 2 Swimmer of the Year (Emily Wright), seasoned and talented juniors (Emily Downs and Michelle Cunningham, both DCL All-Stars), and a freshman standout (Megan Pierce).
Weston's 200 medley relay edged Marblehead to win the North sectional title and improved on that performance in winning Division 2 state championship. They'll be losing seniors Eve Jakubowski and Devin McCarron but returning will be junior Cheryl Lang, a member of both the 200 and 400 free relays, sophomores Bianca Tocci and Megan Pierce, and freshman Katie Kim.
Duxbury put out an impressive crew in the 400 freestyle relay, with senior Kaitlin Buckley, juniors Emily Hutchinson and Sarah Goldberg, and Shelby Rader, a freshman. They won at the South sectionals and were the runners-up at the Division 2 state meet. Goldberg anchored the winning relay at sectionals. Hutchinson was also a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay at sectionals.
coach of the year
In her seventh year at Lincoln-Sudbury, Boudrot coached her team to a 10-2 record. Lincoln-Sudbury was the runners up in both sectionals and state championships. She also led the boys' swim team to second place finishes in the sectionals and state championships.
