The Revolution's shopping list for designated players has included Portuguese stars Luis Figo and Pauleta, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
Figo strongly considered an offer to become the team's designated player last year, after his final season with FC Internazionale in Italy.
The MLS approved a second DP for teams Thursday, and Revolution owner/operator Jonathan Kraft said the team will continue to search for a player to fill the role, "but you've got to be sure you're getting a world-class player who brings something else to the table" in an interview during the team's annual season ticket-holder gathering at Gillette Stadium Wednesday.

To our readers,
We've added a translation feature to the Corner Kicks blog to assist readers who may be more comfortable reading another language.
Google Translate is not perfect -- we're aware of that -- but it is quite good at getting the main points of the story across. We've successfully used it on The Big Picture, Boston.com's extremely popular world photography site. I'd be eager to hear your feedback on its use in Corner Kicks, in whatever language.
