United not short on goals

Santino Quaranta and Jamil Walker scored within a two-minute span in the first half and D.C. United went on to beat Chivas USA, 3-0, yesterday, despite playing without the suspended Jaime Moreno and the injured Freddy Adu.

Dema Kovalenko provided the game's final margin in the 63d minute as host United (11-6-5) won their fourth straight and eighth in their past 11 games.

Wizards 4, Real Salt Lake 2 -- Real Salt Lake forward Jason Kreis became the first MLS player to score 100 career goals, connecting in the 72d minute in the Utah team's loss to visiting Kansas City.

The 32-year-old Kreis did two back flips after the milestone goal. He broke Roy Lassiter's record of 88 MLS goals last season and had 91 when Real picked him up from FC Dallas.

Fire 2, Galaxy 1 -- Jesse Marsch and John Thorrington scored first-half goals to lead host Chicago over Los Angeles.

Rapids 1, Earthquakes 1 -- Jean Philippe Peguero scored in the 56th minute for visiting Colorado.
