Crew tops MetroStars to end six-game skid

Jamal Sutton scored in second-half stoppage time and the Crew broke a six-game winless streak with a 1-0 win over the MetroStars last night in Columbus, Ohio.

Sutton ran onto a back-heel pass from substitute Marcus Storey and put the ball past goalkeeper Tony Meola in the game's dying moments.

The victory gave Columbus three valuable points in its effort to overtake the MetroStars for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Crew has 18 points to the MetroStars' 25.

D.C. United 1, Wizards 1 -- Rookie Scott Sealy scored his third goal in the last two games to help host Kansas City forge a tie with D.C. United.

D.C. United scored a minute before halftime on a breakaway goal by Joshua Gros.

Earthquakes 2, Rapids 1 -- Brian Mullan and Mark Chung each scored to lead San Jose over Colorado in Denver.

With the win, San Jose (8-4-7) swept Colorado in three meetings.
