Newburyport quarterback Joe Clancy threw four touchdown passes, the last with a minute to go in the game, and the host Clippers stunned previously unbeaten Georgetown, 27-26, in a Cape Ann Small contest last night.
The result leaves Newburyport atop the standings at 5-0 (5-5 overall), while Georgetown dropped to 8-1, 5-1. Newburyport plays Amesbury on Thanksgiving. If the Clippers win they will clinch the title and a playoff berth.
Clancy (12 of 22, 256 yards) hit Andrew Sokol with a 38-yard pass on a fourth-and-10 play. Kyle LeBlanc's extra point gave Newburyport the win.
Division 1Old Colony: Taunton 19, Bridgewater-Raynham 13 - Alphonso Williams returned a blocked field goal attempt in the second overtime 108 yards and Taunton beat B-R for the first time since 1990. B-R was attempting a 24-yard field goal. Cabrini Gonsalves had 170 yards on the ground for Taunton.
Attleboro 55, Barnstable 28 - Matt Campbell ran for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
Greater Boston:Somerville 28, Cambridge 26 - Robert Pratt scored two touchdowns and Cambridge's 2-point conversion attempt in the fourth quarter failed, giving the Highlanders the win.
Nonleague:Dartmouth 33, Durfee 7 - Justin Mello ran for 140 yards and three touchdowns to lead top-ranked Dartmouth (10-0) past the Hilltoppers.
Division 1ADual County: Arlington 47, Weston 21 - Matt Willey ran for 367 yards and six touchdowns and the Spy Ponders clinched a share of the DCL Small title.
Division 2Hockomock: North Attleboro 38, Canton 0 - Corey Wynn kicked a 34-yard field goal and added a 4-yard touchdown run as the Red Rocketeers improved to 7-2.
Eastern Athletic:Bishop Feehan 23, Somerset 0 - Bryan Webb ran for 100 yards and made his 10th interception of the year as Feehan clinched the Eastern Athletic Conference title and a playoff berth.
Division 2ACape Ann: Masconomet 38, Ipswich 7 - Chris Splinter ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more as the Chieftains cruised past Ipswich.
Patriot:Hingham 42, Middleboro 14 - Jake Quinn kicked two field goals and ran for two touchdowns as Hingham won in the Patriot Bowl playoffs.
Quincy 26, Randolph 6 - Lance Peterson threw two TD passes.
Division 3Tri-Valley: Westwood 20, Medfield 13 - James Berluti rushed for 60 yards and passed for 203 as the Wolverines improved to 6-4.
Norton 16, Medway 7 - Sean Ryan ran for 102 yards as the Lancers handed Medway its first loss of the year. Norton can win the TVL title by beating winless Bellingham on Thanksgiving.
Division 3ABoston North: Boston English 8, West Roxbury 6 - Alex Villenueva scored a 1-yard run in the third quarter and English recorded a fourth-quarter safety to lift the Blue & Blue to 3-7.
South Boston 34, Charlestown 0 - Derrick Willis ran for 117 yards and Akeem George added 101 as the Knights (9-1) remained on track for a showdown with East Boston on Thanksgiving for the title.
Madison Park 20, East Boston 12 - Darrell Hudson scored two touchdowns as the Cardinals handed East Boston its first loss in conference play.
